Bangalore School Reopen: Schools for all classes to reopen from January 31
Karnataka government has announced to reopen schools for all classes and colleges in Bangalore from Monday, January 31.Karnataka education minister BC Nagesh on Saturday announced reopening of schools and colleges and emphasised on strict adherence of COVID-19 protocols during offline classes. The decision on reopening schools for Class 1 to 9 is taken after a meeting with the COVID 19 Technical Advisory Committee.
Schools in Bangalore were closed due to a spike in COVID-19 cases but now as the cases are declining, schools can be reopened from Monday onwards. ANI quoted BC Nagesh, “We’ve decided to open schools in Bengaluru from Monday. Night curfew to be lifted from Jan 31; have directed concerned depts to ensure that proper SOPs are followed. Marriage functions are permitted with 200 members indoors and 300 outdoors: Karnataka Minister BC Nagesh”
Schools for Classes 1 to 9 were shut in Karnataka after a COVID review meeting conducted on January 4, 2022. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai announced to shut all educational institutions for two weeks which was later extended.
Meanwhile, Bangalore reported COVID-19 15,199 new cases on Friday. Karnataka reported 31,198 Covid-19 cases along with 50 deaths. The positivity rate of the state stood at 20.91 per cent.
Schools and colleges in many other states where COVID-19 cases are declining are reopening. Schools in Mumbai have reopened, Haryana schools will be reopening from February 1, Tamil Nadu schools are also expected to reopen for Classes 10 and 12 from february. Uttar Pradesh government has announced school closure extension till February 6. Delhi schools reopening decision will also be taken soon after a meeting with DDMA.
