Covid-19: 83% attendance recorded in schools across<br>Kerala

A vast majority of students flocked to schools when regular classes resumed for students in classes I to IX on Monday.


According to the statistics available with the general education
department, close to 83% students turned up on the day. “On an average 82.77% students attended schools on Monday. The average attendance in LP, UP and high schools was 80.23%. While 82.18% students attended classes in the higher secondary section, 85.91% turned up for classes in vocational higher secondary stream,” said government sources.

The highest turnout in LP, UP and high school sections, together, was recorded in Kannur (93%) and the lowest in Pathanamthitta (51.9%). The highest attendance in the higher secondary section was in Kasaragod (88.54%) and the lowest in Ernakulam (72.28%). In VSHE, maximum students attended classes in Ernakulam (97%); the lowest was in Kannur (71.48%)


he total student strength in government and aided schools in state is pegged at 47 lakh. Of this, 38 lakh students are in classes one to ten. Number of students in the higher secondary section comes around 7.5 lakh and that of VSHE is close to 66,000.
