Covid-19: Weekend curfew in Karnataka from Jan 7, schools up to Class 9 shut
As Karnataka logs a massive surge in Covid-19 cases, the Basavaraj Bommai-led government on Tuesday announced a weekend curfew in the state from Friday.
The curfew comes into effect from Friday at 10 PM till 5 am on Monday. The number of coronavirus patients in the southern state stood at 2,053 on Tuesday, as per official data.
The 10 pm-5 am night curfew which is already in force has been extended for another 2 weeks. Also, schools for classes from nursery to 9 have been shut for two weeks. Malls, restaurants and theatres will operate at 50% capacity.
During curfew, only essential services and hotels will function without any interruption.
Protests, rallies, and gatherings are banned. Pubs, clubs, restaurants, hotels, cinema halls, theatres, auditoriums, swimming pools, and gyms will operate at 50 per cent capacity.
