Nature Index in its recent quest have crowned Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR-New Delhi) and Indian Institute of Sciences (IISC- Bengaluru) as the premier institutions who topped the rankings table 2020 in India. 

The rankings are based on total research output which the institutions have carried out from December 01, 2018 to 30th November 2019. They are grouped in a particular table which illustrates counts (total citations in numbers) and shares (the sharing percentage per article). The top subjects so associated with the research work includes: Earth and Environmental Sciences, Physical Science, Chemistry and Life Sciences. CSIR-New Delhi has achieved the top position with 142 counts (C) and a share percentage (SP) of 87.74 while IISC-Bengaluru stands second with 211 counts and 83.61 in share percentage. Both the organizations have topped the Institution of India Rankings 2020. The third place in India is secured by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR-Mumbai) with a research count of 232 and share percentage of 62.18

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Bombay)- Score: 105C with SP 48.47 6. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Madras)- Score: 169C with SP 43.60 7. Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences (IACS-Kolkata)- Score: 72C with SP 39.31 8. Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER- Kolkata)- Score: 63C with SP 34.93 9. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Guwahati)- Score: 73C with SP 34.76 10. Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER-Pune)- Score 117C with SP 28.77 

The department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Human Resource in India (HRDM) have congratulated all the top institutions for their remarkable achievement in the Nature Index Global rankings report 2020.
