The convocation ceremony of IGIMS has got a glimpse of traditional costumes. All the students in the head turban and the kurta and pajama were looking attractive. The girls wore sari. From teacher to staff all appear in traditional costumes. The students who received medal in the ceremony at the auditorium were very excited. For the first time in the convocation ceremony of the college, the establishment day function is not only a medical student but also in the Indian garment. Now every year traditional conventions will be held in conjunction with a convocation. In the convocation, Chief Guest Governor Lalji Tandon gave gold medal to 38 toppers. Those receiving Gold Medal include DM, MCH, MD, MS, MBBS, Nursing and Paramedical Students. A total of 138 students and physicians were awarded degrees at the convocation ceremony.
Begusarai’s Riya Anand got 12 gold medals. Riya is a student of MBBS. Riya of the year 2014 batch got eight gold medals in different subjects in the fourth year for the various subjects in the third year of MBBS and in the last year. Riya said that this is a moment of happiness. It is also a challenge to get better health facilities in rural areas. Riya said that if you get a chance, then people will be able to serve the people in the rural areas. Right now Riya’s plan is to PG. Batch 2015 topper Ananya got two medals of three and 2017 batch Shreya.
“Convocation is an opportunity when you can do self-contemplation. This is a twist from which there are many ways to move forward in life. Those doctors who have received the degree will be ready to serve the poor, the unhappy and the sick. At present, India has no dearth of policy, leadership and resources, yet it will be tragic if you do not play your duties.”Governor Lalji Tandon as the Chief Guest said.
Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that there has been a change in clothes for the first time in the convocation of IGIMS. In the last convocation ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed his desire to change the garment itself. It is heartening to see that this time the garment has changed. Kurta-Pajama and Pagdi showed a glimpse of Indian tradition. First English was seen.
He said that the government is taking initiatives to start nursing studies in all medical colleges of the state. Very soon IGMS will start studying MSc in Nursing. Said that in last 70 years, there were only eight medical colleges in Bihar. Our government has decided to open 11 new medical colleges in the last one to one and a half years.
