The sight of beloved Director Sir and Prof. Debabrata Mazumder, Dean, Student Welfare in South Indian attire was heart-warming for the students from the southern part of India. Students dressed in dhoti and beautiful silk sarees made all the preparations like the bonfire, flower decoration, colorful rangoli and pongali (sweet).

Little smiles of the children from ICCHE (a society managed under the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences) added more oomph to the celebrations. “Sankranti is a celebration of new things in life and paying tribute to all the elements that helped us achive our goals. This year’s Sankranti celebration at IIEST Shibpur was an improved effort into sharing joy and splendor with the entire campus. Icche helped further spread love to underprivileged children. What better way to celebrate the end of winter?” Shivani Mandava, a student from Telengana shared her thoughts.
