No Covid case among Nashik students since schools<br>reopened

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) health department
officials said that so far, not a single case of any student testing positive
for Covid-19 in civic or private schools in the city has been reported since
the schools reopened earlier this year following the ebb in the
pandemic. This assumes significance as few students in Delhi schools have
tested positive for Covid-19 in the recent past.

NMC’s medical superintendent, Dr Bapusaheb Nagargoje, told that no positive cases in any city school have been reported so far.

“The civic body had issued SOPs for all the schools after they were allowed to start offline classes. Our health department is constantly keeping an eye on the issue. We have advised all schools to report to NMC if they come across any positive case or if there is any case of Covid-like symptoms,” he added

Nashik city, which witnessed a devastating second wave last year, currently has only six positive cases. There have been no Covid fatalities in the city for a long time. The hospitals have already started treating non-Covid cases in the city.

“The situation on the Covid front is stable in the city,” added Dr Nagargoje but cautioned people against lowering their guards. He said people should continue wearing masks as a precautionary measure.

“People should not lower their guard and continue to maintain Covid appropriate behaviour,” he said, reminding people there has been an uptick of Covid cases in Delhi in the last few days.
