“National Institute of Technology Patna”, for the First time science exponent planned to be held on Saturday, Jan 26th, 2019 at TCF’19, NIT Patna by “Science and Engineering Innovation Club”.

NAVYAKALAM  is the series of competitions governed by the Science and Engineering Innovation Club (SAEIC) of NIT P. It comes under the category of technical events during Techno-Cultural Fest 2019. Keeping in mind the theme of Bohemian Escapade, the events are completely redesigned and refurnished this year. A total of Four events have been planned with the motto of enhancing scientific knowledge and innovation of students.

The Four events are special in their own way- each dedicated to a specific skill of science, without missing the element of fun.

1. SCIENCE FAIR

The main objectives of organizing Science exhibitions are:

⦁  promoting interest in Science and Technology among the younger generation.

⦁  encouraging scientific and technological creativity among students and inculcating a sense of pride in their talent.

⦁  providing exploratory experiences, encouraging creative thinking and promoting psychomotor skills among school students through self-designed models or simple apparatus.

⦁  encouraging a problem-solving approach and developing appropriate technologies, especially for rural areas and integrating and applying scientific ideas in daily life situations.

⦁  popularising Science and technology among masses and creating awareness regarding its impact on socio-economic and sustainable development of the country.

⦁ The Exhibition provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of your research, technology or institution with key influencers, including potential funders, government, and the public.

Selection process

The Science And Engineering Innovation Club will invite different exhibits, from a broad range of scientific disciplines, to take part in the TCF’19  Science Exhibition.

The mentioned manifestation would comprise:

⦁ The quality and cutting-edge nature of the science: The science on the show should be ground-breaking and of potential interest to the media.

⦁ The potential for interactive and hands-on elements: Wherever possible, exhibits should contain elements that visitors can touch and try out to understand the scientific concepts behind the research.

⦁ The interest of the subject matter to a broad audience: Visitors particularly like exhibits that are relevant to them or their experience.

 

 

2. INTELLOPITHECUS (Brainy Bashers)

i) MOVIE MANIA

-An open-for-all event, this will be an online round using smartphones/laptops of participants.
Basically an audio-visual quiz, it consists of science-related questions from the subject of Movies.

ii)PUZZLE SOLVING

-Qualifiers of Movie Mania enter the puzzle solving round.This deeply checks the aptitude of the student. Various tasks including solving a jigsaw puzzle, Rubik’s cube, analytical reasoning, geometric trivia, and many more surprises shall be given to participants in groups. Time taken to solve is also a major factor. Fastest brain wins.

3.SCIENTASTIC (Science Is About Knowing, Engineering Is About Doing And Scientastic Is A Place Where Both Meets Together)

 

i) PPT PRESENTATION

-Participants are required to make PowerPoint presentations as a team of 3 members, explaining the topic and how they plan to overcome it. The evaluation shall be based on the idea and presentation style.

ii) MODEL MAKING

– Selected teams/individuals qualify to this one-of-a-kind model making round. Based on the idea of round 1, the students shall make the required working model of the given topic.
All necessary materials shall be provided. These projects can also be used in real life in the future for their obvious purposes.

4. WASTE WIZARD (Trash To Tech, Waste To Best)

Waste management or waste disposal is all the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. Waste wizard is a team activity.
Teams will be given a set of scraps or will be allowed to choose from a given pile of junk.
