The Supreme Court approved All India Counciling for the second phase of NEET for admission to medical colleges. The apex court on Wednesday stayed the order of the Bombay High Court which had adjourned the council to the OBC quota.
A Bench of Justices AS Bobde and L Nageshwar Rao issued the order on the special permission petition of the central government. The Central Government went to the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s order. The Nagpur Bench of the High Court, while stopping OBC quota counseling two days ago said that quota will be available only in 85 per cent of the seats in the state, reservation in the central quota will not be available.
In this regard, the central government challenged this decision by filing petition in the Supreme Court and had said that in the central quota there is no provision of reservation for OBC in the council. Under this reservation can only be granted to SC / ST. The court ordered that the Bombay High Court will not hear further in this matter. Also issued notices to All India OBC Federation.
