The Central Advisory Board on Archaeology is back and better than ever!

The National Board for Archaeology was reconstituted for a three-year term to promote closer contact between the Archaeological Survey of India and Indian universities conducting archaeological research, as well as to provide for a closer association of learned societies in India with the ASI’s activities.

The Board will consist of the Director-General of the ASI, as well as five persons have chosen in their personal capacity by the Government of India. Former ASI Director-Generals will also be members of the Board.


The board has been reconstituted for a three-year term in order to promote closer contact between the Archaeological Survey of India and Indian universities conducting archaeological research, as well as other institutions conducting studies related to the application of archaeological principles. 

Additionally, the board will provide for a closer association of learned societies in India with the ASI’s activities. Former ASI Director-Generals will also be on the board, as well as five persons chosen in their personal capacity by the Government of India.
