After the protests were intensified due to the scrap of BA social sciences course, the director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences Prof Shalini Bharat said that the course has been scrapped temporarily due to the lack of infrastructure in the institution.

The director further said that the course will be shelved until the situation gets recovered. She also said that the TISS institutes in Guwahati and Tuljapur are offering the course.

TISS has closed hostel on the campus and scrapped the three-year BA social science programme following which the hostel has become a non-residential campus.

Though the decision has not been officially communicated to the students or the faculty, the admission website of TISS states that “no BA programmes are offered from Hyderabad” and a newspaper advertisement calling for admissions does not list the off-campus as having the BA-SS programme. It also says that “TISS Hyderabad campus is now a non-residential campus”.

Speaking on the matter, the director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Prof Shalini Bharat said that the course has been scrapped temporarily due to the lack of infrastructure in the institution.
