Block Leaders to Transform Villages through Experience and Training


IIM Ranchi, under the guidance of the Directorate of Panchayati Raj, successfully concluded a five-day residential training programme organized as part of the National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan on Tuesday. The programme brought together 46 Block Heads and Deputy Block Heads from 11 districts of Jharkhand, equipping them with essential leadership, administrative, and development-oriented skills.

The valedictory session was graced by Ms. Saloni Singh Pahwa, Specialist – Water, Sanitation & Nutrition, State Panchayat Resource Centre, Directorate of Panchayati Raj and Mr. Saurav Bag, State Program Manager, State Panchayat Resource Centre, Directorate of Panchayati Raj, as Chief Guests.

Addressing the participants, Ms. Pahwa emphasized the State Government’s vision of transforming every Panchayat into a model Panchayat. She encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and insights gained at IIM Ranchi to drive meaningful, sustainable, and community-led development in their respective regions.

Prof. Amit Sachan, Dean - Executive Education & Consultancy, interacted with the participants and gathered feedback on their learning experiences. Participants appreciated the well-structured sessions, acknowledging their practical relevance and the exposure to new technological perspectives that will support effective governance at the grassroots level.

Programme Director, Prof. Shweta Jha, outlined the highlights of the training, noting that participants explored innovative approaches to local problem-solving, resource optimization, digital governance, and collaborative employment generation. The sessions also focused on effective utilization of Panchayat infrastructure, promoting rural health, nutrition, and sanitation, and ensuring efficient use of government funds. In the vote of thanks, Programme Director, Prof. Satyam, appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the attendees, urging them to apply their learnings to strengthen local governance and accelerate rural development.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants. The training was conducted from October 10 to 14 at IIM Ranchi.
