Celebrating Linguistic Diversity: Bhartiya Bhasha Sammelan at LS College


The recent Bhartiya Bhasha Sammelan, organized by LS College in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Uthhan Nyas, New Delhi, and Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti, Government of India, was a significant gathering where scholars, linguists, and language enthusiasts convened to deliberate on the imperative of promoting and preserving Indian languages. Presided over by BRA Bihar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, the event was a testament to the commitment towards nurturing linguistic diversity.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rai articulated the paramount importance of recognizing and respecting India's linguistic plurality. He urged participants to champion the cause of linguistic diversity, emphasizing the pivotal role educational institutions play in this endeavor. Prof. Rai underscored the profound impact of mother language on personal, social, and cultural identity, emphasizing that while language serves as a means of communication, mother language is the conduit that keeps us tethered to our roots and unique heritage.

Chief guest Prof. PK Bajpayee, Vice-Chancellor of JP University, Chhapra, broadened the discourse by delving into issues such as language preservation, language policy, and multilingual education in India. Prof. Bajpayee highlighted India's mosaic of languages and advocated for their promotion as a means to foster unity and pride in our diverse linguistic tapestry.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. Ompraksh Roy, Principal of LS College, extolled the virtues of Indian languages, emphasizing their rich expressions, idioms, and vocabulary that serve as wellsprings of creativity and innovation. Prof. Roy posited that by nurturing indigenous languages, we can stimulate out-of-the-box thinking and catalyze novel ideas and solutions.

Convenor Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Head of the Philosophy department, offered insights into the current state of Indian languages and proposed strategies for their revitalization and growth. He announced various sessions and workshops aimed at engaging participants in interactive discussions and activities geared towards promoting linguistic diversity and awareness.

Co-Convener Dr. Rajeshwar Kumar underscored the significance of the conference as a platform for networking and collaboration among language enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds, facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices.

The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and language enthusiasts from various communities. Notable attendees included Prof. Atish Parasar, Prof. Vivekanand Upadhyay, Prof. Bharat Singh, Prof. Jaykant Singh, University PRO Prof. Rajeev Jha, Prof. TK Dey, and Dr. Navin Kumar, among others.
