IIM Jammu Concludes Leadership Development Program for Young Managers (Batch III) in Collaboration with SAIL


The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the Leadership Development Program for Young Managers (Batch III), a training program for executives from the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), at its Jagti Campus on April 17, 2026. The five-day program witnessed the participation of 28 executives from various SAIL plants across the country, reflecting a strong commitment to capacity building and leadership development in the public sector.

The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Shri Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director (HR–L&D), MTI SAIL. The ceremony was graced by Shri Chandra Nath Kumar, Sr. Manager (HR–L&D), SAIL–MTI, Doranda, Ranchi (Online Mode); Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu; Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Program Director; Dr. Parvathy B, Program Director; and Dr. Sakhti Nagraj, Program Director.

During the program, participants were exposed to key areas such as leadership, adaptability, financial acumen, innovation, and strategic thinking. Through interactive sessions, peer learning, and practical applications, the program enabled participants to enhance their managerial capabilities and leadership competencies.

Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, EE&C, IIM Jammu, emphasized the importance of such programs in adding value not only to the participants but also to their larger contribution toward nation-building. He noted that professionals are often deeply engaged in routine responsibilities, and programs of this nature provide an opportunity to pause, reflect, learn key concepts, and apply them effectively in practice. He described the outcomes as a testament to the program’s impact and expressed his eagerness to engage with the participants again in the next phase.

Dr. Sakhti Nagraj, Program Director, IIM Jammu, presented the program report, offering an overview of the five-day initiative focused on enhancing managerial effectiveness. The program’s key highlight was the participants’ project discussions and presentations.

The valedictory session also featured participants sharing their reflections on the program, describing it as innovative and thoughtfully designed for SAIL executives. They highlighted that the sessions effectively connected theoretical concepts with practical applications, progressing from foundational principles to real-world relevance. Participants appreciated the structured delivery despite time constraints and expressed gratitude to their management for the opportunity.

They further noted that the case studies were relevant to SAIL’s operational context, and the project-based learning approach enabled collaborative teamwork and practical application of knowledge. The quality of teaching, rich content, and faculty commitment were widely appreciated. Participants also emphasized gaining valuable insights into effective presentation techniques and expressed enthusiasm about returning for future sessions to further build on their learning.

 

The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Parvathy B, Program Director, IIM Jammu, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their valuable contributions. With the completion of the program, IIM Jammu continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst in bridging academia and industry, fostering future-ready leaders who drive innovation, enhance organizational performance, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
