IIM Jammu Concludes Transformative Leadership Development Programme for Young Managers (Batch-I) of SAIL

The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the five-day Leadership Development Programme for Young Managers (Batch-I), organized for Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna CPSE, from April 27 to May 1, 2026, at the Vedanta MDP Centre, IIM Jammu. The programme was meticulously designed to equip emerging leaders with strategic acumen, managerial excellence, and future-ready leadership capabilities.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Shri Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director HR-L&D, MTI SAIL, on the online mode. The occasion was also graced by Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy; Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Programme Director; and Dr. Chinmaya Kumar Swain, Programme Director, IIM Jammu.
In his virtual address, Sanjay Dhar, Executive Director HR-L&D, MTI SAIL thanked IIM Jammu for nurturing SAIL's emerging leaders. He emphasized that growth comes through continuous learning, expanding one's thinking, and stepping beyond comfort zones. Highlighting SAIL's ambitious future, he urged participants to apply their learnings, foster peer learning, and drive meaningful transformation in their workplaces. He noted that the true success of the programme would be reflected in the positive changes they bring to their teams and organizational culture.
Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, highlighted the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation. He noted that the programme enabled participants from diverse teams to gain broader perspectives and better understand cross-functional challenges. Emphasizing IIM Jammu's role as a bridge between industry and academia, he encouraged participants to continuously apply their learning and expressed his eagerness to welcome them again.
Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Programme Director, IIM Jammu, presented the programme report, highlighting the key learning outcomes and enthusiastic participation of the delegates. He noted that the four-month engagement, which commenced in January, unfolded in three phases: Phase I featured an intensive five-day on-campus immersion; Phase II focused on reviewing the progress of participant projects; and Phase III emphasized advanced learning, practical insights, and plant-level presentations. He underscored that the programme fostered Harvard-style peer learning, enabled participants to identify key project areas, and encouraged them to remain connected with IIM Jammu for a lifelong association.
Participants expressed their sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality and enriching learning experience at IIM Jammu. They highlighted the invaluable peer-to-peer learning, insightful faculty sessions, and practical knowledge gained for addressing real-world challenges. They noted that the programme broadened their perspectives beyond routine operations, particularly in understanding business, sales, and profitability, and expressed their commitment to applying these learnings and sharing them with their colleagues.
The ceremony culminated with the distribution of certificates to the participants. Dr. Chinmaya Kumar Swain, Programme Director, IIM Jammu proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, participants, and the organizing team for making the programme a grand success. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
