
IIT Hyderabad Inaugurates the “Ashok Vemulapalli Floor” to Celebrate Legacy and Innovation

IIT Hyderabad (IITH) inaugurated the “Ashok Vemulapalli Floor” in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), commemorating a landmark moment in the institute’s journey toward global excellence in innovation, research, and technology. The floor has been named in honour of Mr. Ashok Vemulapalli, Founder of Trigeo Technologies, through the generous support of Mrs. Sunitha Vemulapalli, celebrating her husband’s visionary contributions to industry and technology.
This contribution of donors to IITH, represents not just philanthropy, but a shared vision between academia and industry to nurture innovation ecosystems for the future. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. and Mrs. Vemulapalli, along with Prof. B. S. Murty, Director, IITH, Prof. Mahendrakumar Madhavan, Dean Alumni and Corporate Relations and Prof. Antony Franklin, Head, Department of CSE.
Following the inauguration, Mr. Ashok Vemulapalli engaged with students and faculty, sharing his professional journey and entrepreneurial insights. As the founder of Trigeo Technologies, he has led pioneering work in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), engineering solutions for the petrochemical industry, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Digital Twin technologies—all areas that resonate deeply with the research frontiers of IITH.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B. S. Murty, Director, IITH, remarked: “This moment signifies more than a contribution—it symbolizes a convergence of vision and purpose. The Vemulapalli family’s commitment exemplifies how leaders from industry can empower academic institutions to accelerate technological innovation and global impact.”
Prof. Antony Franklin, Head of CSE, added: “This contribution ‘Ashok Vemulapalli Floor’ to the department helps us establish an advanced laboratory, collaborative space that fosters computing research that is aligned with real-world problems.”
Expressing her sentiments, Mrs. Sunitha Vemulapalli said: “My husband and I are deeply grateful to IITH for giving us the opportunity to contribute to its inspiring journey. This initiative is not just about recognition—it is about nurturing innovation, supporting young minds, and continuing a legacy of technological progress that reflects his life’s work and values.”
Prof. Mahendrakumar Madhavan, Dean Alumni and Corporate Relations, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting: “This gesture reinforces the growing culture of giving in higher education. The Vemulapalli family’s vision aligns beautifully with the mission of IITH to create a vibrant, globally connected research ecosystem.”
